Can anyone tell me how to format and connect a second hard drive to a Mac? Someone here just bought a LaCie drive, but we don't know how to format it for the Mac.

What type of drive is it (e.g. USB or FireWire)? Also what version of Mac OS is your Mac running?
If with OS X: 1) Plug the drive into the computer. 2) Turning the drive and computer on (if not already). 3) Open the application "Disk Utility" located in the "Utilities" folder of the "Applications" folder. 4) The New drive should be located on the list of drives on the left, select it. 5) Click on the "Erase" tab. 6) Choose the "Format Volume" as "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" (or what you want to use). 7) Name the the drive. 8) Click the "Erase" button. 9) The drive should mount on the desktop and you can start using it. For more help on using Disk Utility, from the Menu Bar, got to the "Help" menu and select "Disk Utility Help" -------------------- Pacmeb - Macs, PCs, Web Design, Calculators.
